ANGUS HENDERSON The recent relaunch of the Western Canadian Pipeline in a glossy magazine style, rather than a tabloid format, has seen a hugely positive response from the oil and gas industry throughout Western Canada, according to sales manager Lorelle Holowaty-Wiens.
The now quarterly publication after a short hiatus was brought back due to popular demand, according to Holowaty-Wiens, and is proving to be a more attractive way to bring news and views to people in the industry. Published by Southern Alberta Newspapers, the new-look magazine is also the result of extensive research with industry company owners and employees, to make sure readers are getting what they want, she added. This includes enhanced content, such as a regular family feature on companies that have been in a family for a generation or more. Weve had an outstanding response to the new format, Holowaty-Wiens told the News Tuesday. Its a real addition to any oil and gas company. The publication is mailed out to those in the industry who sign up for a free subscription via email at

An added feature is an electronic newsletter that will be sent monthly to those who sign up, offering news about such things as advances in technology and articles about leaders in the energy sector. Holowaty-Wiens said there are special rates for advertisers who just want to advertise in the online edition, but that the better deal is to advertise in the print edition, where you get a value added bonus for advertising on the website.
